Meta, the parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has introduced a new AI tool called Meta Movie Gen that can produce videos along with their audio. Continuously enhancing its AI applications for video creation, Meta brings a fresh perspective with Meta Movie Gen.
Meta has taken its innovations in AI-powered video creation a step further by introducing a new tool called Meta Movie Gen.
Meta’s new tool not only automatically creates videos but also synchronizes them with AI-generated sound effects, ambient sounds, and music to make the videos more impressive. Ahmad Al-Dahle, Meta’s Vice President of Generative AI, emphasized that videos are incomplete without sound, highlighting that sound is an important part of videos.
What is Meta Movie Gen, and what can it do?
Meta’s new tool allows users to create videos with just a short text input. For example, a video of a man standing next to a waterfall or a person driving an off-road vehicle in the desert can be easily generated by AI. Later, sound effects and background music can be added to these videos with another text description. Additionally, users can upload their own photos and instantly transform these images into animated videos.
Currently, the AI tool produces videos at a speed of 16 frames per second and a length of 16 seconds, but these videos are not entirely error-free. For instance, in a demonstration, a video of a dog talking on the phone mistakenly included a human hand on the dog.
Meta plans to offer this technology as an effective tool especially for filmmakers and content creators. Like OpenAI and other major tech companies, Meta is initially testing the technology with a limited group of professional users.
Users will be able to both create videos from scratch and edit their existing videos before sharing them with this newly introduced AI tool. Developed to compete with major AI companies like OpenAI and ElevenLabs, Movie Gen can currently produce videos up to 16 seconds long. It is expected that this duration will be extended in the future.
According to Meta, Movie Gen will collaborate directly with content creators. The company plans to integrate the new AI tool into its social media platforms. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp users will be able to share AI-generated videos thanks to Movie Gen.
